Our Mission
Since 1929, the Hospital Thrift Shop has turned sale proceeds from gently used items into much-needed medical equipment, services, and staff housing for the Nantucket Cottage Hospital.
From expanding maternity care to supporting physical therapy, radiology, and palliative care services to funding a state-of-the-art MRI machine, an ultrasound machine, new, improved mammography equipment, and supplemental funding for employee housing, we have worked to improve the health and well-being of our Nantucket community.
“The Hospital Thrift Shop provides affordable goods to the Nantucket community and raises funds to provide financial support to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital.”
Our Gift in 2025
Wrapping up its 96th year in business, the Hospital Thrift Shop presented a check to Nantucket Cottage Hospital totaling $660,000, which is our record amount. The donation will contribute to the Gouin Village capital campaign, which aims to construct employee housing and a new physical therapy space on hospital-owned land located off Vesper Lane in Gouin Village.
“The Thrift Shop continues to be a shining example of how community generosity transforms care on Nantucket,” said Amy Lee, president of Nantucket Cottage Hospital. “Every donation, every purchase, and every volunteer hour directly supports our mission by helping us expand vital spaces like Physical Therapy and strengthen housing for our dedicated staff.”
